The Samoyed originally pulled sledges. Today's Samoyed enjoys letting the instinct shine by pulling. An untrained Samoyed may decide pulling you along a walk satisfies the desire. With training and conditioning the Samoyed can be a fantastic assistant around the yard transferring sticks piled on a small sled to hauling wood, rocks, and bricks for landscape design. There are several local, regional and national organizations hosting weight pull competitions. The competitions are held on natural turf, smooth surfaces, and snow! Some Samoyed owners have creatively loaded a sheet with dirty clothes attaching it to a harness for an instant assistant inside. A proper pulling harness is required to prevent injury. Never allow your Samoyed to pull from a neck collar.
