The Samoyed was bred to work in the coldest places on Earth. Originating in Northern Siberia where the temperatures can reach minus-60 degrees the beautiful, white double coat of the Samoyed provides protection against the brutal weather. Impervious to the cold the gorgeous, powerful and tireless Samoyed is very functional. They were bred as sled dogs, but were also used to herd and guard reindeer. This intelligent breed excels in other tasks as well.

The Samoyed is known as the breed with the smiling face. Their delightful, perpetual smile has a practical function. The upturned corners hold drool preventing the formation of icicles on their face.

Keona was born May 7, 2008, and crossed the Rainbow Bridge October 30, 2019.  She exemplified the spirit of the Samoyed.  She was outgoing, friendly, and carried on a conversation the best way she knew- howling!  True to the breed Keona loved to work.  She earned a master working title through the Samoyed Club of America.  Keona participated in many activities.  Her favorite were pet therapy and agility.  She started her therapy dog career in 2010, just before her second birthday.  She earned titles through the American Kennel Club in rally, obedience, agility and was recognized for her work as a therapy dog.  Through the Samoyed Club of America she was recognized for her work in weight pulling, hiking, scootering, and bikejoring.
Did you know the Samoyed is one of the 14 ancient breeds most genetically similar to the wolf, but there is no mixture of wolf or fox running in the Samoyed strain!
A tremendous thank you to the following who have captured wonderful photos for us:
