Samoyeds are tirelessly active. Their high energy, intelligence and curiosity make them wonderful working dogs. They are good with children and other dogs, but supervision should always be provided. The coat requires weekly brushing to prevent matting. They shed the undercoat seasonally; however, it is common to finds small amounts of fur year round. Their intelligence makes them highly trainable. The Samoyed is a medium size dog with males reaching 21-23 inches weighing 45-60 pounds while females reach 19-21 inches weighing 35-50 pounds.
The Samoyed is a working dog who needs a job. Left to their own accord they may chase things, run and bark. Channeling this energy into a job or activity will decrease the chances this creative thinker will invent ways to entertain themselves. A fenced yard is a must as the Samoyed is not a breed to remain on the back porch. The Samoyed will interpret a daily walk (or two) on a leash as a job. Playing and training the Samoyed are enjoyable activities for all involved.

Takoda was born November 23, 2016. He too is following Keona and Makaio's lead to become an amazing therapy dog. His training began at 8 weeks of age. He earned his champion conformation title, rally novice title, trick dog novice and has been recognized as a canine good citizen. He loves to cuddle, play and swim. He may never be a champion dock diving dog, but Takoda enjoys his time in the training pool!
Did you know Queen Alexandra was a Samoyed Fancier? Descendants of her dogs appear in many English and American Kennels today.
